Richard Lee Johnson, PTA

Physical Therapy Assistant

Richard is a Tempe native who attended Arizona State University and Gateway Community College, with 17 years of customer service experience.

He is a Physical Therapy Assistant (2007, Gateway Community College) and holds a BS in Exercise Science and Physical Education (1998, Arizona State University). He has completed over 200 hours of continuing education with an emphasis on outpatient rehabilitation. Richard has been a Certified Emergency Medical Technician since 2001 (Mesa Community College) and has completed a Management and Leadership Training Certificate Program (2005, Chrysler leadership training program). He is also Healthcare Provider First Aid & CPR Certified since 2001 through the American Heart Association.

His certifications include ISTYM experience, Advanced Proficiency of the Musculoskeletal System and Advanced Proficiency of the Neuromuscular Skeletal System through the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). He is progressing toward a third Advanced Proficiency in Geriatrics and will be the first individual to have all three in Arizona. He also worked as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) – Basic for over 10 years (ended February 2015).

Richard focuses on improving movement patterns through rehabilitation and enjoys treating anything that returns patients to activities, everyday living, and sports, while valuing the clinic’s single focus of helping the patient.
